How the day works
9:00am:
Arrive + check-in
Head to the GAWS Registration Marquee to check in and collect your merchandise.
Haven’t registered yet? No problem! Our wonderful volunteers will be happy to assist you with on-the-day registration.
After completing your registration and merchandise purchases, grab a coffee, enjoy some delicious food.
9:45am:
Welcome + safety briefing
GAWS Head Vet Dr Ruth and Dog Behavioural Specialist Nina Smart will share important dog safety advice, plus tips and tricks to help prevent conflict and ensure everyone enjoys a safe, happy walk.
10:00aM:
4km Walk begins
Set off on a relaxed 4km walk through the Botanical Gardens, along the Geelong Waterfront, and back to the Eastern Park BBQ Area.

11:00am: Event Hub opens
Once you’ve crossed the finish line, head back to the Event Hub at Eastern Park. This is where the day really kicks on with music, giveaways, kids activities, and plenty of ways to get involved (or just kick back on the grass and soak it up).
Don’t forget to browse our fantastic market stalls, all open and ready to welcome you.
On stage highlights
Pooch Parade (free to enter)
Bring your dog along and join in when our MC calls for entries. Categories include:
- Best Dressed
- Waggiest Tail
- Best Trick
There’ll be prizes, sashes for owners, and crowns for our canine legends. The parade will be hosted by a mix of local favourites, and officially judged by GAWS ambassador Sarah Bieske (Editor, GT Magazine and local Fashions on the Field judge).
GAWS Adoptable Dogs Parade
Meet a special lineup of GAWS dogs currently looking for homes. It’s a proud (and sometimes emotional) moment. Come cheer them on, share their stories, and say hello.
K Rock live entertainment
Keep an ear out! K Rock 95.5 will be playing your favourite tunes live from the event hub with, games, commentary, giveaways and plenty of feel-good energy throughout the day.
What else is there for dogs and humans?
Food + coffee
Refuel at APCO’s coffee van with hot drinks and food. Plus, there’s treats and tennis balls for the furry customers.
Bringing kids?
We’ve got them covered too, including kids face painting and plenty of space to play and relax.
